Mount Ararat Ski Tour
Mount Ararat Ski Tour is an adventure tour for those who seek a real ski adventure in the big mountains and enjoy impressive downhill tracks. Imagine this special trip: skiing from the top of the 5000th century almost to the foot! Mount Ararat Ski tours Skiing mount Ararat Turkey
Our Ararat ski tour program is designed for our skiers who have not had the opportunity to get used to our adventure journey before. We spent one more day after Winter Camp 1. We devote 4000-4200 meters and beyond to acclimatization skiing. This helps us get used to the high altitude and reach the top of Ararat without symptoms of altitude sickness.
After breakfast, we load our suitcases, food and hiking equipment into the minibus and go to Çevirme village at the foot of Mount Ararat. We stop next to the village at an altitude of approximately 2200 m, take our skis and start climbing to Winter Camp 1 at an altitude of 2800-2900 m. (Depending on the snow condition, sometimes the skis may need to be carried up to where the snow begins). All equipment is transported by horses. We set up our tents and have lunch at Winter Camp 1. Then we have time to rest. In the evening, the cook serves a hot dinner and we spend the night in tents in the camping area.
After breakfast at the campsite, we go skiing at an altitude of 4000-4200 meters. After a short break, we are skiing at the 1st winter camp. It helps our body adapt to altitude and prevent altitude sickness. Food and hot drinks are waiting for us at the campsite. The afternoon is free. We have dinner. Overnight in tents in the camp.
We eat a nutritious breakfast at camp. Then we pack up the gear, pack up the tents and head to Winter Camp 2 for skiing. This camp is located at an altitude of 3500-3800 meters depending on snow conditions. On this day it may be necessary to help our porters and carry more items in small backpacks. When we arrive at winter camp 2, we have lunch. Then we set up our tents and rest. As usual, hot meals are served in the evenings. Overnight in tents in the camp.
After waking up very early (around 2-3am) we need to place our training bags in the tents (our porters bring them directly to camp 1). Afterwards, we have breakfast, snacks and start skiing towards Ararat peak (depending on snow and ice conditions). It may be necessary to leave it at an altitude of 4800-4900 meters and climb with crampons). After reaching the top, taking a short photo break and enjoying the view, we descend to Camp 1, where hot tea, coffee and snacks are waiting for us. After a short break, we will continue our descent towards Çevirme village, where our driver will be waiting for us. We return to our hotel in Doğubayazıt.
Extra day in bad weather. If we are not going to spend a day in the mountains, we will take a cultural tour in the Doğubayazıt region. We will visit Ishak Pasha Palace, built in the 17th century, Urartu Castle, and the Durupınar area (ship-shaped area), which some researchers say is the footprint of Noah’s Ark. Overnight at our hotel in Doğubayazıt. Notice 1: We will pick you up from the airport one day before your Ağrı trekking. We will also drop you off at the airport after the tour.
Warning: Tour program and camping locations may change depending on weather and snow conditions!
