Skiing in Ararat Mountain
Despite scholarly consensus that the “mountains of Ararat” of the Book of Genesis do not refer specifically to this mountain, Mount Ararat has nonetheless been widely accepted in Christianity, Judaism, and Islam as the resting place of Noah’s Ark. Mount Ararat Ski Season March – May.
Program
1 Days
Arrival in Van Agri or Igdir, Dogubeyazit welcome. Transfer to Dogubeyazit. Stopping en route for tea in the center of Dogubeyazit. Dinner with typical local food. Overnight at hotel.
2 Days
Dogubeyazit to Mount Ararat Transfer from Dogubeyazit to Eli village at 2200 meters, then walk to base camp at 2700 meters with transport of equipment by pack animals. Overnight at Camp 1, the 'Green Camp' (walk 3 hours). Rest of the day free in the ski area ski area skiing or resting. Free day.
3 Days
Mount Ararat acclimatization, overnight at Camp 1. Ski up to 4100 meters and return to Camp 1. Spend the night there. This cross-country skiing is used for acclimatization (3 hour walk). Rest of the day free in the ski area to ski or rest.
4 Days
Mount Ararat camp 2; after breakfast, go up with ski equipment to camp 4200 and return skiing to base camp 1. All day in the ski area, if the weather is good, we will go up to 5000 meters and return to camp 1 skiing.
5 Days
Mount Ararat; All day skiing area length (5 km)
6 Days
After breakfast, transfer to Dogubayazit, spend the night at a 3-star hotel, then eat and continue with a cultural tour of the city of Dogubeyazit.
7 Days
Departure from Dogubayazit; Breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the airport. Tour end.
- Trekking Permits: The Turkish government requires special permits to climb Mount Ararat.
